Brazilian Choro has been around for over a 100 years. Its beautiful melodies, complex harmonies, and syncopated rhythms combine elements of European folk and classical, ragtime, jazz, Latin, and African music. They create a style that is uniquely Brazilian and enormously appealing.
Portland-based Choro Louco was formed in 2013 and has evolved into a classic sounding choro ensemble. They are driven by a love of the music and a desire to share it with others. Performing for us will be Carl Dimow (guitar, flute, bass flute), Nicole Rabata (flute), David Newsam (8-string guitar, mandolin), Eric LaPerna (pandeiro), and Joel Eckhaus (cavaquinho and mandolin).
