Thank You For Your Interest in Teaching
Our classes and extensive lecture series are made possible by a dedicated “faculty of peers”. Our instructors know and love a subject, skill, art, or craft and enthusiastically share their knowledge and talent.
The form below will help us learn about you and the class you are proposing. Your responses are assembled into an email which is sent to volunteers on our curriculum committee. A copy is also sent to you at the email you indicate in the form.
In most cases, especially if you are a first time instructor, we will arrange for an in-person interview.
Our questions are intended to help us both choose classes and publicize them. Our choice of classes is based not only on information about your class and yourself, but also on our other classes and the classes that have been recently offered. (If you are offering a course in Python, the computer language that facilitates scientific and numerical analysis , and we know that most of our students are not interested due to low turnout the last time a similar class was offered, your class may be rejected, even though it is well conceived and would have been well taught.) If you are concerned about the appropriateness of your class, feel free to call 621-3479 or email proposal@umasc.org .
With your help, we will use our catalog, website, and word of mouth to publicize your class. Details about the class will help turn interest into signups. For academic classes, feel free to list related books, even though they may not be used in the course. Please look thru the previous catalog and website for examples to help you describe your courses. Here are some links: Jazz, R&B, Insects, Granite Hill, and Films .
