Your neurons will be firing as we delve into history using Great Women’s Speeches (by Anna Russell) as our springboard. Working with a partner, you will:
Read/research and provide some information about an American woman;
Lead a discussion of her speech. (Speeches will be provided.)
And you will meet some fascinating people in the class. Come join the adventure.
Note that the class will be held in 190 Jewett on 3/26, 4/2, 4/23 and 4/30. Class will be held in 103 Klahr on 4/9. No class on 4/16. Â
In Her Words
Linda Williams taught 21½ years. She has a BA in History and a MA in Education from University of Michigan. In Maine, Linda worked extensively with the Office of Substance Abuse, the Maine Youth Suicide Prevention Program, and Somerset County Hospice as Executive Director. Linda’s classes are always well-received and highly rated.
Margaret Bean grew up in Houlton where she developed her work ethic in the potato fields, beginning in second grade. She earned her BA in English at Colby and a Master’s in Organizational Development at Antioch. Her career included teaching English at Cony High School, working for the Aroostook County Action Program, and 25 years at Maine Housing. She volunteers with a variety of writing and food scarcity programs and much enjoys her involvement in Senior College.
