Location: Viles Arboretum
One Monday class followed by one Tuesday field session, both days at the Viles Arboretum in Augusta.
Birds are not only a marvel of evolution, they are endlessly fascinating, beautiful, impressive, amazing, and entertaining. Come join Cheryl and Sue in exploring what makes a bird a bird. We’ll talk about feathers, eyes, bills and feet, how to identify them at your feeder and in the field, and who knows what else!
Rain date will be scheduled on Wednesday, May 20, if needed.
Cheryl Ring and Sue Kistenmacher will be co-instructors for this class.
There will be a $2.00 per student fee to cover the cost of photocopies.
Marvelous Birds
Cheryl Ring is an ardent birder and a graduate of the Maine Master Naturalist Program. She is a member of the Augusta Birding Club and coordinates Augusta’s Christmas Bird Count. She has birded in many countries around the world, but really loves birding in Maine.
Sue Kistenmacher taught biology and science in area schools for 30 years and continues to teach at the Hidden Valley Nature Center and the Maine Master Naturalist Program. She has also been “bitten by the birding bug” and gets out in the field as much as she can.
