From the patterns and textures in a decaying leaf or the beauty in a single drop of water on a flower, nature presents us with miraculous diversity which we may walk by every day without noticing.
Viewers will witness the structures, patterns, textures, and unbelievably vibrant colors and expressions in nature’s unique and elegant creations all around us.
Roger Richmond will offer selected 3D images which reveal how nature’s patterns may have inspired some art and architectural expressions.
Nature as Inspiration for Art and Architecture
Roger Richmond is Emeritus Professor of Architecture in the BArch program he founded at the University of Maine at Augusta. He holds a Master of Arts in Architecture Degree from the University of Florida. With more than 35 years of architectural teaching experience, Mr. Richmond continues his architecture as a consultant. He was named UMA’s “The Student’s Choice Teacher of the Year” in 2001. He designed the Maine Vietnam Veterans Memorial and has won a number of awards for his designs and artworks. Currently Mr. Richmond lives in South Freeport, Maine with his wifeBeverly, and with Suki and Lucy, the cats.
