Gain a new appreciation for the beauty of mathematics. In Art Meets Math, we will create artwork exhibiting geometric designsbased on the Fibonacci sequence, the Golden Ratio, fractal patterns, tessellations, and various types of symmetry. Neither mathematical experience nor artistic ability is required.
MATERIALS: Students will need a compass, protractor, and ruler for the class. To purchase a kit, click here. Colored pencils and paper will be provided, but you may bring your own art supplies if you prefer.

Janet Preston has a Master’s degree in Mathematics and over thirty years of experience teaching a wide rangeof ability levels and age groups. She retired in 2017 after eleven years on the faculty Unity College. She lives in China, Maine with her husband and dog and volunteers at China Primary School providing math enrichment to gifted second graders.
