Fridays • 8 classes • 9/19-11/7 • 9:30AM-12:00PM

Class size 10-23 students
0 seats remaining
Location: Art Studio 108

This is a class for people who want to be in a safe and fun environment that encourages social connections, comfort and support.  We consider our class community to be “artistic explorers” who experiment using a variety of artistic media to learn what the materials can do and to create unique pieces of art.  We offer ideas and plans, but we also like to have choices and let things develop based on what people are interested in.  Some classes will provide instruction while others will be more of an “open studio” format where you will have time to continue with something you’ve started, explore new ideas, or learn in small groups from other students. We warmly welcome past students, as well as new students to the community.  You will all fit in just fine.  Plenty of choice and support as needed.  And lots of fun!

There will be a fee for materials.

If the class fills before you have a chance to register, call the office (207 621-3551) to be added to a wait list.

Re-activating Our Artistic Creativity

THIS CLASS IS FULL

Carole Baldwin chairs the Curriculum Committee and is past chair of the UMASC Board. She was a health educator and physical education teacher in high school and then a counselor in middle school. As an educator and counselor in a school system she enjoyed working with students , parents and teachers. Carole was instrumental with others in starting a Civil Rights team at the middle school and a Crisis Response team for the district. Here at Senior College she developed and taught a balance class , a pickle ball class and did a lecture with photos of her many birding adventures with her sister in law. Now she is enjoying teaching the mixed media classes with Elizabeth where they both marvel at the creative group of explorers that play and work with mixed media art supplies.

Elizabeth Luckraft graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in elementary education and has a master’s in education and a master’s in clinical mental health counseling. She was a member of the faculty at the University of Maine at Farmington for 25 years and was previously a classroom teacher at a variety of grade levels. Her work as a clinical counselor, a polarity therapist, and a teacher have all fed her passion for seeing the best in people and supporting them in their personal growth and exploration. Elizabeth loves being creative and especially enjoys working in acrylic mixed media, playing guitar, and gardening.  She is grateful to be a teacher at Senior College within a community of such warm and creative artistic explorers!
