Thinking of volunteering in your community? Tried it and didn’t have a fulfilling experience?

This in-person class will focus on the core standards, strategic themes, and establish goals to strive for in achieving successful volunteer efforts. The course, offered in six weekly 90 minute sessions will include the following elements:

     – Creating and Ensuring you are operating in safe environments.            

     – What to look for when engaging in positive volunteer efforts.

     – The benefits of volunteering.

     – How volunteering strengthens friendships and partnerships.

     – Ways to navigate Volunteer Management Systems/ what questions to ask.

The course is presented in partnership between Augusta Area Adult and Community Education and Viles Arboretum. 

Note: No class on April 16 because of the UMA Senior College annual meeting.

 

  

Volunteerism for Older Mainers

David Greenham is the Executive Director of Viles Arboretum and a long-time non-profit director in Central Maine, as well as a consultant to non-profit organizations.

Kelli Gilzow Stowell

Kelli Gilzow Stowell is the program coordinator for Augusta Adult and Community Education, and a Community Education Assistant with UMaine 4H Cooperative Extension.
