Sometimes you don’t know your life journey’s purpose or lessons learned until you have had a chance to reflect or write about it. What better chance to do this than now! You will also stretch your imagination and knowledge to write other work besides memoir.
I recently bought a new text, not used before, and am collecting new prompts, also not used before, to provide the basis for this class. The class writes to prompts more than once each week, shares some of what they have written, and provides a piece for a class chapbook.
I am the facilitator, encourager, and cheerleader for the class. I provide a writer’s notebook for newcomers and a syllabus that is divided into eight weeks.
This hybrid class meets
in-person and on Zoom.
There is a $10 fee
for printing and mailing,
payable at the first class.
Janet Cowperthwaite has worked with Writers’ Workshop in her second-grade class and in a graduate writing class. The workshop that Janet has been leading in Senior College has evolved from those experiences, and she feels her job is to be facilitator, encourager, and cheerleader.
Janet graduated from Houlton High School in 1959 and from the University of Maine in 1963 with a degree in English and credits to be certified as an elementary teacher. She earned a master’s in education, also from UMaine in 1992.
