You have wonderful experiences; you have a wonderful imagination; you have wonderful storytelling ability. You need to use all these gifts to write down the stories you want to share. Join me in Writers’ Workshop. This semester we will use selected materials from Roy Peter Clark, The Art of X-Ray Reading and Writing Tools. Also, we will review some of William Strunk, Jr. and E.B. White, The Elements of Style. I will photocopy the materials that I chose to use and get them to you at the first class or before.
We will meet for eight sessions and will write something once or twice each session. There will be opportunities to share. We will create a chapbook from a final piece you will write. There will be a $10.00 fee to cover costs of printing and postage.

Janet Cowperthwaite has worked with Writers’ Workshop in her second-grade class and in a graduate writing class. The workshop that Janet has been leading in Senior College has evolved from those experiences, and she feels her job is to be facilitator, encourager, and cheerleader.
Janet graduated from Houlton High School in 1959 and from the University of Maine in 1963 with a degree in English and credits to be certified as an elementary teacher. She earned a master’s in education, also from UMaine in 1992.
